A Vision for the Future of Child Welfare.

At CAFCA, we envision a child welfare system that strengthens and supports families and communities; a system that serves, first and foremost, the needs and best interests of the child; a system that strives to maintain family unity whenever possible; and a culture where no child is harmed, injured or killed at the hands of any adult in a position of trust and care. We envision a world where no child is ever removed from their family home, thus eliminating the need for foster care. And we envision a culture that supports and strengthens families, focusing on the well-being of children through a whole-child approach.

But until then, CAFCA member agencies are dedicated to providing quality care and treatment to ensure children and families have the chance to heal and the hope of a brighter future.

Advocacy

CAFCA works throughout the year advocating on the local, state and national level on behalf of our member agencies and the children and families they serve. We partner with stakeholders and coordinate with other advocacy groups to help advance legislation that results in significant increases for provider rates of reimbursement and greater program funding. The children and families served by our member agencies are always at the heart of our advocacy efforts.

Collaboration

At CAFCA, we understand the close relationship between communication, which involves the sharing of information, and collaboration, which involves working with others and using that information to solve problems. Through a collaborative spirit, CAFCA keeps its members highly informed using a variety of tools and resources which convey details and interpretation of relevant issues. During the legislative session, members also receive regular legislative updates from the lobbyists.

Education

CAFCA is committed to providing trainings, classes and workshops for professionals working in the child welfare arena. Breakout workshops are offered at our annual conference each year, and our new Professional Development Training Series features monthly virtual workshops presented by top industry experts, which helps ensure direct care staff are at the top of their game with the latest trends and best practices in providing care and treatment to clients.
